Meenakshi Temple:

Meenakshi Temple is known for its intricate rock carvings across the globe and unfurls the saga of historical legacy of Tamilnadu's arts and culture. It is located on the bank of River Vaigai in the Madhurai district. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the 'form of Sundareswarar or beautiful Lord' and his consort, Goddess Parvati in the 'form of Meenakshi' and that's why it is also known as Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple or Meenakshi Amman Temple. The architectural supremacy of this temple reflects the 2500 years old legacy of Madhurai. The magnificently adorned temple complex consists of 14 Gopurams including the two golden towers Gopurams for the main deities. These Gopurams are renowned for the elaborate sculptures and the paintings of deities incarnations. The intricate mythological theme based design mesmerises visitors and remain the case study for historians. The tallest temple tower is 51.9 metres (170 ft) high showcasing the architectural brilliance  of the Tamil Culture.

Meenakshi Thirukalyanam (The divine marriage of Meenkashi) is the most important  festival associated with the Meenakshi Temple, which is celebrated in the month of April every year. The other festivals of the temple includes the Teppam festival, the annual Float Festival and  the Meenaskhi Kalyanam, the wedding festival of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareshwar, which is celebrated for twelve days in the month of April and May.

Ramanathaswamy Temple:

Rameshwaram is one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in India famous for the beautiful Ramanathaswamy Temple. According to the Indian mythology Rameshwaram  is the place where Lord Rama offered thanks to Lord Shiva in return for his support in defeating King Ravana. This magnificent temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas situated in different parts of India and is noted for its huge hallway of 1220 meters in length. The rock carving throughout the hall is the prime attraction of this temple. The 54 meter tall Gopuram and the 22 wells spread throughout the premises are the major attractions of this magnificent temple.

Kapileshwar Temple:

It is one of the ancient temples of Chennai situated in Mylapore. Devoted to Lord Shiva, it is  famous for its architectural beauty reflecting the Dravidian style. The sixty three idols of Saivite saints are the centre of attractions of this temple.

The other beautiful temples of incredible South India include Shore Temple, Sarangapani Temple, Sri Adhikesava Perumal Temple, Brihadeshwara temple and Kanyakumari Amman Temple.
