If you have done this, consider also the time of your departure – if you know it long enough you can save a lot on airfare. If you combine this with the tickets to secondary airports where taxes are much lower than usually, you can save more than half from you tickets.

However - if you want to fly really cheaply you should first consider if you really need to have a free snack during you flight. Low costs are cheaper but at the same time they offer less comfort.
