Australia is a continent that is just full of surprises. Most of this country is unpopulated and the distances between places can be immense. The Great Barrier Reef is one of the wonders of the world. This is the world's largest natural feature and it is the most popular tourist attraction in Australia. The reef stretches for 1,400 miles and there are 600 islands along it. This is probably the best scuba diving location on the planet and the eco system surrounding the reef is unbeatable. If you are not quite confident enough the go scuba diving then you can also see a lot by just snorkeling. A visit the Great Barrier Reef will be something that you are unlikely to ever forget.

The Red Centre of Australia is where you will find Ayers rock which is also known as Ulura. Gazing around the landscape it is even to imagine yourself being on Mars. This is considered the center point of Australia. It is surrounded by a huge national park and Alice Springs is another place in the area that you will want to visit. When you make the journey to this part of Australia you will really feel like you have arrived somewhere.

Sydney is a modern city that has a whole lot to offer the visitor. You will find all the facilities that you would expect to find in any major city, but there is also a lot of things that just could not be found anywhere else in the world. One of the most famous buildings in Australia is the Sydney Opera House and this was created in the 1960s; its unusual shape is believed to create some great acoustics. As well as being a city you will also find some great beaches nearby.

If you want to see the capital of Australia then you won't find it in Sydney. Canberra is the capital city of the commonwealth and here you will find many museums and buildings of national importance to Australia. It is not as big as Sydney and you should be able to see most of the tourist attractions in a few days.

Tasmania is a huge island off the coast of Australia. This was where Europeans first colonized the continent and the first penal settlement was created here. There are plant and animals found on this island that can't be found anywhere else in Australia or indeed anywhere else in the world. This island is great if you like hiking or spending time in the wilderness.

Melbourne is considered the most stylish city in Australia and well worth a visit if you want to find out what is chic and in vogue down under. The nearby coastline is highly praised and worth a visit.
